| P2 Pins Questions

I picked up a few of these recently and one has a totally blank back. The paper is there but no writing. It is highly doubtful that this has been altered. I sent it to PSA for grading and they refused it because of the blank back. Has anyone seen this before. I also picked up a Matty pin with a small spot of rust on the back trim. Thoughts on removal of this? Lastly, are the small and large letter variations really a big deal. Does anyone care and is one really that much rarer then the other. Thanks James G
