David PosesLast night, I sold a bunch of cards on eBay and had some money burning a hole in my pocket. Unable to find anything I really "needed," I went on a spree and bought 10 or so raw T206 minor leaguers. A few years back, I focused on T206 Southern Leaguers but gave up before completing the set because (a) some of the cards were too hard to find on a weekly basis and I like instant gratification (b) some of the cards are some of the ugliest cards in the T206 set, (c) the combination of ugliness and scarcity meant I was paying a lot for cards I really didn't want.
Something about the Jimmy Jackson portrait card jumped out at me- that's what started this new pursuit, although I am now having a bit of morning after syndrome, wishing I just pocketed the cash and saved it for my real collection (Highlanders/Yankees).
Anyway, this led to a few questions I thought may provoke some discussion.
1. What is the relative scarcity versus less than stellar Major Leaguers or Southern Leaguers- ie- if there are approximately X cards of any given SLer, and there are Y cards for any given Major Leaguer, there are ? many cards for any given Minor Leaguer.
2. Is there an order of scarcity of Minor Leaguers as there are of Southern Leaguers?
3. Care to share a favorite minor leaguer? I always like threads with pictures.
This seems like it could be a fun and relatively inexpensive subset for me to collect while I wait for an e94 Dougherty to materialize out of thin air. Does anyone have a checklist?
