I do see your point... I would be annoyed if I were negotiating a private sale and someone interfered with that. I see eBay as a public auction forum, the public should be able to speak. I as a seller could read this and lower my minimum before the auction was over, thereby saving fees.

As for this auction, seems there's a division of opinion, that it could go unsold or for a few bids over minimum. It isn't like it has been listed for 20 times its value.
