I just paid too much for 4 1910 issues of The Sporting Life. I've not seen an ad for T206 cards or their cigarettes. Somewhere in the back of my mind is the idea that the ATT advertised in The Sporting Life for a short time (a September 1909 ad is depicted on the cover of Mr. Lipset's great Encyclopedia), but that The Sporting Life quit accepting those ads when they put their own card set together.
Each series cost 4 cents and a coupon from the paper. The Sporting Life was 5 cents an issue. 18 series, 72 cents and 18 coupons (costing 90 cents), a total cost for the set would have been $1.62 and a 2 cent stamp to mail off for it. Maybe an extra 1 cent stamp for a second ounce of postage. So I figure $1.65 would have bought the set when it was new.
All series evidently available at the same time...
Frank.
