Rob FouchI saw the other thread about pickups for the year of cards with variations, and it made me want to post a question I've had for awhile. For those of you who are active collectors of miscuts, odd color variations, ghost images, etc., etc., would you mind sharing what the appeal is of these cards? Personally, I don't have much interest in them. If I got one in a lot of cards, depending on what the variation is, and how interesting it was, I might keep it. But more likely, I'd sell it to a collector who looks for these sort of cards and I'd use the profit to further the completion of my fledgling T206 set. And I doubt that I'd ever pay a premium for such a card.
I hope no one takes this as an attack on your collecting habits. It's simply a genuine curiosity on my part as to why people find these cards so appealing. I have a few ideas as to why, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Happy New Year, everybody!
