What makes a great collector?

First, I think a true love of the cards and what they represent is what makes a great collector. Second, a collector who is also a dealer(unless it is exclusively to fund card collecting) is not as good as a pure collector imho.

Does the personality of a collector play a role? the value of the collection? the volume?
