A Southern Gentleman's passion

As I was bored and browsing through some past auction catalogs of Mastro, I was once again astounded by the collection entitled "A Southern Gentleman's Passion." This collection was massive and I found myself wiping drool as I thumbed through the pages. My question is, does anybody know whose collection this once belonged to? And also, what were the circumstances for selling the collection (collector passed, collector's new interests).

I was simply blown away more by this collection than say Barry Halper's (w/ all due respect) simply by the sheer quantity and quality he/she amassed.
