E-bay bid cancellations

This really burns me! If the seller is willing to sell item before the auction is to end then they should sell in a fixed price format with a best offer option. I was an active bidder on the item and had my bid cancelled. It's almost as if you really want something you have to contact the seller and make an off ebay offer. Sorry just venting,
