Default get anything new?

Posted By: Mike Tucci (18colt)

I recently purchased a T-206 Cy Young (glove showing) with a Piedmont 350-460 series, factory 42 back (the tough one) on eBay from a Canadian seller at a decent price. I was able to win that auction in my opinion because (a) the seller was in Canada with just over 100 positive feedbacks, and based on past board discussions, a good number of buyers avoid sellers outside of the U.S. for a variety of reasons, (b) the card is in ugly shape condition wise, causing a lot of potential buyers to stop looking at the card, and (c) the scan of the back was hard to read, which kept the tough factory designation from jumping out at bidders.

Hey, I took a chance on this guy, and it turned out well (as have all of my non-US transactions to date). I know my T-206 cards, so authenticity was not an issue for me. The seller sent me an e-mail when he received my payment (I used an international money order), and sent another to confirm that he put the card in the mail along with a tracking number (the seller paid shipping/handling, including insurance). And this guy must be honest - he lives in Niagara Falls, and went to the trouble of mailing this from Canada (customs declaration and all) when he could have drove a few minutes across the border, had lunch, and mailed the card from a US post office.

Anyway, the card worked out well, and my need list for T-206 is down to 63 cards.

BTW -- I used to occasionally post here under the name "18colt", my eBay handle, but am now using my full name to comply with Leon's disclosure guidelines. Keep up the good work, Leon.
