Graded cards--do you collect them or not?

I can't afford them either. I have a hard time understanding why a card multiplies in value after it's been given a grade most people reading this could approximate and put in a nice holder.It all seems a little arbitrary. Actually I have a theory that these grading companies are all run by a Hawaian syndicate.
