Build yourself a spreadsheet of the cards you want, be succinct and know why you want every card on that list to be part of your collection. Be prepared to sacrifice other things for your collection. Buy only cards that speak to you and don't settle, you will regret it.
IMO, the cards are a byproduct of the relationships you will form with other members here.
