I miss hearing that in person...or perhaps I just miss being that young age and being at a ball game where money and contracts didnt mean much to a 7 year old baseball crazed kid.

That info on Piper is great. The youtube piece is especially great. He was the sort of figure that links generations. We Pirates fans had Art McKennan announcing our games for 40 years, and he made the game sound ageless.
