$300 is reasonable. $400 is fair. $500-600 is full retail.
I've owned a few early ones signed this way; nobody cared enough to get excited. After he passed away, his widow used to send out cuts which she removed from checks. As the other poster mentioned, he signed these "Melvin Ott" as well. The funny part was that Mrs. Ott would cut out the "vin" and mount the "Mel" and the "Ott" side by side! Where did all the vins go? I can't wait for their eventual rediscovery, only to end up in ridiculous insert cards.
