Dwight Smith Sr
I just got a text from Bill Haelig that another ex-Oriole has died. Dwight Smith Sr passed away at age 58. He spent most of his career with the Cubs.
Dwight played 28 games and batted .311 for the Orioles in 1994. Dwight's son, Dwight Smith Jr, also played for the Orioles in 2019-2020. I believe that along with the Ripkens and the Raines, they are the only father/son combos to wear the O's uniform at the major league level. There have been other former Orioles sons to play in the organization at the minor league level. Remind me if I'm forgetting someone.
