Default Incredible 19th century baseball letter

I have enjoyed this great piece for a few years and time for someone else to enjoy it.

This is a HANDWRITTEN "letter of reference" for a local Iowa baseball player. 19th century stuff is in high demand and this piece is very historical. Written by the teams manager with GORGEOUS period cursive. August 1888.

basically in summary:

Manager talks of a DT Tautling ? employed as a captain and 1st baseman of our team in 1888 prior to our disbanding.

As a ballplayer he has won the admiration of the entire baseball community and there is no superior in the state as captain or disciplinarian.

Pleasure in recommending him as a ball tosser of more than ordinary skill and as a gentleman worthy of the esteem and confidence of all

It will be a time before you see an item like this again. $ 100 which includes Priority insured shipping. Will be shipped without a frame. No trades on this piece. PP gift, PP regular w fees or postal money order accepted. PM reserves it. Thank you!!!!!! Scott
