The Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago issued cards since the early 20’s and today I’ve pictured a Brooks Exhibit card from 1963. In 1963 there was a set of 64 Stat Back cards that had the statistics on the back in red.

I typically don’t collect variations, but my understanding is there are a few different tints on these 1963 Exhibit Stat Back cards. From what I have read in the past there are possibly three tints (Red, B&W and Sepia). Who knows; I just like the cards, but if any of you have any further input or corrections please bring them up.

Mark,

I'm no expert on the Exhibit postcards, but do know there are several types featuring Orioles.

The first type are blank backs from around 1957-1966. Orioles included were Steve Barber, Jackie Brandt, Jim Gentile, Milt Pappas, Boog Powell, Brooks Robinson and Gus Triandos.

In 1962 and 1963, the cards were issued with the stats on the back. 1962 cards had stats up to 1961 and the 1963 cards had stats up to 1962.

The 1962 Stat Back Exhibits included Jim Gentile and Milt Pappas. The stats on the back were printed in both black and red. So two variations of each.

The 1963 Stat Back cards included Luis Aparicio, Steve Barber, Jim Gentile, Milt Pappas and Brooks Robinson. The stats on the back were printed in red. There are color variations of the fronts. The two 1963 Milt Pappas cards show the B&W and sepia colors.

In 1980, Brooks Robinson was reissued in several color variations. This might be the red you are talking about.

One other set that used exhibit cards, is the 1959 Dad's Cookies set from Canada. These cards are very rare. It's believed Dad's Cookies used exhibit postcards, with their ad printed on the back. The cards were stapled to bags of cookies, so staple holes are normal. Gus Triandos is the only Oriole.
