Ferenc Puskas
Most soccer fans know of Puskas. He was probably the greatest Hungarian football star (84 goals in 85 matches) and widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. IFFHS has him as #6, World Soccer #7, Top End Soccer #7 FIFA internet #17.
FIFA now has a FIFA Puskas Award which is given to the player with the "most beautiful goal" of the year. There are many options for information on him, but here is an overview of one of Real Madrid's most famous strikers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferenc_Puskás Given that most of the first half of his career was in Hungary (1943-1955) there is a dearth of cards of him prior to his defection. More cards became available after he emigrated to Spain and he is included in many Spanish (and European) sets. Luckily, however, Nannina from Italy printed the Hungarian team in a 1947 issue, which is now widely considered his "rookie" card. I believe that the Dutch biscuit card is even more rare than the rookie card. Enjoy some of my favorite Puskas cards.
