I've only done a few, and not that modern.

I didn't do that well, and one card in particular did very poorly. Nicest 81 Donruss I've seen and it only got an 8.


SGC doesn't have much following for modern stuff, so I can't imagine there being much of a premium for the top grades. That's mostly driven by the registry, and for modern stuff there's not much action there.

For example, most of the ones I sent in were 81 Topps, and at the time it was impossible to complete that set SGC graded unless you sent them in yourself. Which really isn't practical since even at the $5 special level it would be just over 3600 in fees. Someone has done that though, since now at least one of each card has been graded with SGC.
Contrast that with PSA where there's only about 12 cards that aren't available as a 10.
