Bob Feller game used 2nd no-hitter ball dated 4/30/46 at NYY
Okay, I'm a day early here. Hopefully no one will begrudge me starting this thread anyway... Rapid Robert always said that in spite of the public perception that his Opening Day no-hitter in Chicago in 1940 was his finest moment, he didn't carry the same sentiment. Instead, his tour-de-force was actually his 2nd no-hitter in 1946 vs. the NY Yankees. He told me that the strength of the Yankees batting lineup led by Joe DiMaggio made this one significant and special. The Indians prevailed 1-0 over the Bronx Bombers. The Harridge AL game used ball is signed in vintage fountain pen by Feller and his batterymate, catcher Frank Hayes. The score and date are noted on another panel and the ball is inscribed to some lucky fan named Billy Shapiro. A cool pickup for my no-hitter collection.
