I bought this Mathewson and was pretty happy with it until I noticed it has some gloss on the surface. I put it under my handy dandy Eyeclops (borrowed from my kids) and think it looks right under the microscope and is not a reprint, but am open to being corrected on that as well as I haven't dealt with T206's much recently.
It's odd in that when you tilt it you can see it where the ink is heavier (including around the belt buckle), as shown in the picture below, kind of like the contrast you see with old silver gelatin prints. Not sure what to make of it - is this something that could have happened in the printing process or is it something that was added later. I don't think it was added maliciously but if it disqualifies it to an Authentic grade I have to take that into consideration. Thanks all, Adam B. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
