Items from Gabby Street's personal collection incl. '46 signed Cardinals ball reduced
I am taking offers on a small collection of items from the personal collection of Gabby Street. Items were obtained from Gabby's grand daughter Jennifer.
Items include:
1946 St. Louis Cardinals World Series champions team signed ball (on original Ford Frick ball). Signatures are faded but still legible. Stan Musial signature can be seen clearly despite the fading.
Mint file copy of 1950 Baseball Guide with Gabby on the over (the guide was bound in a cover with "Gabby Street" embossed on the front and presented to him by the publisher
A book titled "The Gashouse Gang" by Roy Stockton. The book was signed by Roy to Gabby referring to him as the "Old Sargeant".
Again, all of the items were personally owned by Gabby. Awesome group that is great without the association to Gabby, but way more interesting because of it.
Please PM if interested in making an offer.
Brief bio:
"Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Street had a seven year playing career in 502 games with the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Beaneaters, Washington Senators, and New York Highlanders. On August 21, 1908, Street achieved a measure of immortality by catching a baseball dropped from the top of the Washington Monument—a distance of 555 feet (169 m). Journalist Preston Gibson pitched the ball to him from the top of the monument and Gabby made a clean reception. Street is also known for his friendship as a catcher and mentor of famed right-handed pitcher, Walter Johnson."
