Okay, at the risk of asking a dumb question, can someone explain to me why the 1936 Goudey Wide Pen r314 Type 1 Lloyd Waner without Lithograph is considered a Type 1 card by the guidebooks instead of a type 2?
Seems to me the card should be more accurately catagorized as a type 2 since those normally come without a lithograph and Lloyd Waner is not in that series. The only rationale I can come up with as to why it is a Type 1 variation card instead of type 2 is because if it is ... there are 120 cards (versus 119) in the Type 1 set and 24 (versus 25) in the type 2 set ... and those numbers are both divisable by 12 (and 3 and 4) and therefore that makes sense as a logical number for the series to be layed out on uncut sheets. But is there another or better reason than just the number of cards? Thanks (and sorry if this is a dumb question - but it has me stummped)! Patrick |
