I have used an iPhone5 to take detailed pics and they seem to be almost as good as a scanner. The key is to take a super close up pic of the front and reverse. That is taking a pic of a raw card or even a PSA card but when taking a pic of the SGC cards, there is a reflection of my phone , fingers and even sometimes the face.
A scanner alleviates all of these. I think some eBay sellers try to take pics instead of a scan to mislead and not show all of the flaws that a card has. Their goal is to not show too much detail so that they can sell their card. Craig |
