I've been frustrated with the same thing. Even if they think the back variation isn't as important as other Pre-war cards, it still should always be included for condition purposes. I've never understood why sellers don't do it.
Particularly, I get upset because I'm still trying to put together a Cubs T205 set with many varying backs. When I sell cards, I always show a back, even if it's an Exhibit card with no back. .
