I picked this up on ebay recently and just wondered if any of you pinback collectors have seen one before. I was surprised to see it was not in Muchinsky's book and have never seen it before myself.
In case you don't know the story, Eddie played for the Cubs and was shot by an obsessed fan on June 14, 1949, thus becoming the inspiration for the book and later movie, The Natural. He had been a hero in WW2, earning 4 Bronze Stars. Thus he was honored by his hometown of Boston on June 25, 1946 when in town to play the Braves. This pin is apparently from that day. |
