Default SGC and PSA T206 pop report comparisons 2006 and 2008

Posted By: Eric Brehm

That is very interesting indeed. The data shows increases during the past two years (for PSA and SGC combined) of:

* 82% in the total graded T206 population
* 46% in the EX-MT and above sub-population
* 36% in the NM and above sub-population

It is impossible to know to what degree these figures are inflated due to re-submits and cross-overs, but in any event those are surprisingly large increases. Hasn't professional grading been around for over 15 years now? And still the whole population nearly doubled in just the past 2 years? This suggests to me that there are still very large populations of raw cards out there yet to be graded, even at the high end.

It would be interesting to take a snapshot like this of these populations once every year or so, to get a feeling for the trend in the rates at which raw cards are finding their way into holders in the various grades. If these rates are not leveling off over time, we can expect to see large increases in graded populations for many years to come.
