I was curious so I looked at my Comiskey PL cards this morning. The sliding pose has a "(PL)" in the picture at the lower right. The arms folded pose has a very distinct "(PL)" at the LEFT in the tablet to the left of Comiskey's right foot. Obviously, there is no Players League designation in the image that Joe posted. So, what can this mean? My guess is that there were multiple 1890 printings of the arms folded pose. The image Joe posted was an early printing which left out the "PL" designation and it was later added in the card I have. |
