Is BVG really that bad?

I've bought two pre-war cards in BVG holders (that I can remember). I cracked them both out and sent them to PSA. One card graded the same....the other was knocked down a .5 grade, which isn't surprising since PSA doesn't have half grades. It's a very small tiny sample size, but at least it was two success stories.
