Circa 1918 Photo Album with Negro League hall of Famer Willie Foster
I have shared this once before, but in honor of the 100’s anniversary of the Negro leagues ( and a vacation that will allow me some time to post) I thought I would post some larger images. The album shows a rare glimpse into middle class African American life in the south in the 1910’s. After research and contacting experts I am more confident that the player in the front middle of the Alcorn Team picture is Willie Foster. Foster is the half brother of Rube and played on the Alcorn team as a teenager. The album also has a couple of other baseball images as well as a number of images of college bands.
