Default 1960-61 Leesburg Orioles

In 1960 and 1961, Leesburg Florida was the home of the Orioles Class D affiliate in the Florida State League. Neither team was very successful on the field, but did produce a couple future major leaguers.

The 1960 Leesburg Orioles finished with a record of 53-80 in front of an average crowd of 249 fans. Sam Bowens is the only player from that team to play in Baltimore.

If you think attendance in 1960 was poor, the 1961 Orioles averaged 156 fans, finishing with a record of 56-80. The Orioles went through three managers that year, including Billy DeMars and future Orioles coaches, Ray Scarborough and player/manager, Cal Ripken Sr. Future Oriole and no hit pitcher Tom Phoebus pitched to a 1-12 record.

With such poor attendance figures, I feel very lucky to have found programs from both years.
