Whenever these posts appear I love going to SABR and reading the bio's on each player.
Here's the bio on Otto Knabe: http://www.sabr.org/bioproj/person/310d7ec8 A couple of interesting notes. The bio states his father was of German descent. I wonder if he wasn't given the middle name "Otto" from the reigning and popular chancellor of Germany at the time of his birth, Otto von Bismark (in office 1871-1890). Knabe was born in 1884. Also, the bio explains that Knabe got wind of the 1919 World Series fix and "investigated the matter, confirmed something crooked afoot, and reported this to Gleason, then managing the White Sox."
