Never seen a '10' on a card that old... too bad it's not his rookie card (1869, I think).

Why do people grade $.50 cards? That blows my mind.

My favorite graded card I saw at a show once was a '90 Score Juan Gonzalez PSA 8. Even if the card graded a 10 it'd still be worth .55 cents. Needless to say he was asking $15. I know it's not a pre-war listing, but it is confusing why people grade certain cards.

To each their own I guess, but on a card like that you would have to get a 10 to make any money at all. It just doesn't seem worth it. I looked it up in VCP and a 10 averages $16.59. How much money can you really make after grading fees, eBay and PayPal fees, etc.? A 9 has a VCP average of only $3.25, in which case you loose money. It just doesn't seem worth the effort or gamble for a few bucks.

The Gonzalez is understandable because it's his rookie and they probably thought it would get a 10. The most pointless card I've ever seen graded was 1990 Topps Frank Thomas(with name) psa 4. Checking the pop reports. Apparently there are 12 of 'em out there..
