As noted dozens of times on multiple threads, we often treasure the relationships we form within our hobby as much or more than the memorabilia that brings us together. Well...yesterday I had the opportunity to form a new friendship with Adam (Tigerden) and acquire a piece from my most wanted list.
While we had been active on common threads over the past year or so, Adam and I hadn't communicated directly. Some time ago he posted a photo of a piece I've been after. We corresponded the past two weeks regarding it's availability, potential trades, and common interests, then established a time to meet at my place and make the exchange. Adam arrived with the piece we had agreed upon but also brought two amazing Tigers pennants, a portion of his impressive collection of Tigers pinbacks, and four hours of stories, insights, and expertise to share. The latter proved to be as valuable as the former. You know you enjoyed yourself when four hours seemed like 30 minutes. Eventually, we completed our transaction and discussed ideas for future trades. While I am excited about future dealings with Adam (he has a great eye), I’m equally eager to simply sit down and talk about the hobby we all love. Thanks again Adam. Here is the exceptional example of the 1934 Tigers Championship tray Adam made available to me. ![]() Here it is mounted. I love the way it looks under my oversized Tigers pennant. ![]() While I’m posting, I figured I would share some updated pics of my shelves (holy crap are they dusty!!!) and a current image of my pinback collection. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Mike, great piece. You are so right, the "stuff" is great but the friendships made are every bit as good or better in many instances.

Great tray....nice going, I can see why you pursued it. Was Joey's Stables a bar or a real stable? Seemingly they would have been an advertiser to get licence to use the Tiger's team graphics on the tray...
I see where Dizzy Dean playing for the Cardinals in the 34' World Series, was knocked unconsious and taken to the hospital in game four..... Really nice pick up Mike, I don't recall ever seeing a more striking tray like it...congrats!

Hey Mike.............That Tiger graphic on the tray is beautiful!.....and that oversized Tiger's pennant is HUGE! What did you have to surrender in the trade, if you don't mind discussing? Great stuff................Matt

I had 2 of those trays, but not with Joey's Stables. I sold 1 on Ebay earlier this year. Joey's Stables was a restaurant/Bar on Jefferson Ave. in Detroit. Like many nice restaurants in Detroit unfortunately closed, just like Victor Lim's, The Brass Rail, Ponchartrain Wine Cellar where Cold Duck was invented and the list goes on and on. Those were the good old days!
And Mike, it looks like you might have a couple of items in your collection that I sold on EBAY. Joe

Good question Carlton. Adam and I wondered if perhaps a liqour distributor worked out a deal with the Tigers to offer these to customers in the Detroit metro area.
Matt. The deal was mostly cash, but also included a nice book and a pinback. Joe. Thanks for the insights regarding Joey's. Adam had some background info as well. I love the advertising on this example. Your tray is PERFECT ![]()

Joe...The most likely is the chalkware Tiger as it is exceedingly rare. It was a BIN on ebey three years ago or so. The box is common and I've had it at least 10 years. Not sure on the doorstop. Since we cant be sure...why dont you sell me a high end Tigers piece so we can be?
![]() What is your ebay handle?
