I would appreciate a little info on this issue. Esp. some background, typical conditions/rough valuation.
Thanks, Scott |

From the little I know about them...they're scarce...most often found in crummy condition...as they are thin stamps. There a few people out there w/ collections of them...don't know of any complete sets...I'd say they're of comparable scarcity as t213-1's...and commons in crummy shape...but whole should sell for 1-300...in my opinion.

Scott,
I collect these stamps. As Pete has said, they are pretty tough to find, especially in nice condition. Many are found with back damage from having been mounted. Even some of the nicer ones I have seen are in lower grade holders presumably from paper loss on reverse. I have tracked them for a while and most players I have only ever seen 1-3 examples. There are many examples which I have not even seen an image. I have seen more Cobbs than any other stamp. I know of a few other collectors of these. I believe one board member (who doesn't post too often) is at about 75% or so completion, which I think is incredible considering the frequency with which they appear. Good luck if you choose to pursue, they tend to get decent prices, especially for clean examples. Mike ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Interesting. And nice to hear. Now I feel a bit better about the one I have.

I bought a lot of about 25 of them once in a David Festberg auction mid 1990ish. About 1/3 were VG or better and 1/3 G and 1/3 were barely there. They are really tough to find in nice shape. I have a number of the nonsports ones from the 6-8 different sets issued. They are equally tough to find. Probably see less than 5-7 a year on ebay. Some of the nonsports ones have advertising for Chesterfield cigarettes on the back. Has anyone ever seen a baseball one with Chesterfield?

Thanks for showing those T330-2s, Mike....I love them in nice shape as they are so seldom seen that way. Great showing there.....My one and only type....

Leon,
Your Wagner is a prime example of how great a T330-2 can look but still be lower graded. Is there a small spot of paper loss on the back? Regardless, that is one of the nicest conditioned stamps I have seen. I would take PSA 2's like that all day, any day. The problem is finding them. Mike |

Leon's Wagner is an example of TPG not knowing what they were doing, I bought this stamp a longgg... time ago and I could not figure out for the life of me what was wrong with it to grade a 2. Finally I figured it out, they deemed it a 2 because it had glue on the back!!! They did not know that it was supposed to be gummed like a stamp. It still remains the nicest one I have seen to date, it is as fresh as the day it was made.

It's almost amusing considering they now have a stamp division that grades postage stamps.

I hadn't thought about these for a long time. The used to come up a pretty good bit in our area, but that was a couple of decades ago.

Leon, IMHO, you should re-submit that. I've never seen one in that condition!

My only example. But, I'd rather have an off-condition WaJo T330-2 than this nice Marquard (Hint! Hint!

Val,
I've only ever seen one T330-2 WaJo. It was on ebay years ago and unfortunately I was outsniped by a WaJo collector who is also a board member ![]() Mike |
