I doubt the Rangers are or will be sorry because I think getting to the World Series is a pretty good accomplishment and Cliff Lee certainly helped to get them there. I also think in many of these kind of trades prospects become suspects. Smoak looks like he will be a nice player, but the jury is still out, and the Rangers seem to have a pretty good young first basemen themselves.

Game 4 featured an all rookie battery of Bumgarner and Posey- almost unheard of in a World Series- and all they do is shut out the Rangers. Now that's a story.

Cliff Lee debate would be moot point if the Rangers could have hit the ball better in this series.

Giants have been criticized rightly so for not developing any everyday players and spending several futile years trying to prop up Barry Bonds with aging veterans...but one thing Sabean and his crew have been able to do well is have uncanny success in finding and developing pitchers through drafts and or trades/signings...and to know which ones to keep and which ones to trade to help the team. Sabean got a lot of heat for trading top pitching prospect Tim Alderson (who many thought would be as good as Baumgarner) for Freddie Sanchez...now Alderson is struggling in the minors...and word is he may never develop as a major league prospect.

Since you asked......
" Ted-Was that A or B league? "

At A.T. & T. Bell Labs (NJ) from the mid-1960's to the late-1980's, the Softball League consisted of 4 divisions (I named our team the Dingbats)......

A......Fast Pitch only......the Dingbats graduated to this division in 1972 when we acquired a fast pitch guy

B......Any Pitch......the Dingbats, started in this division in 1968

C......Co-ed

D......Duffers
