Hi, any one out there own one of the Babe Ruth Rookie Cards, showing him with Baltimore of the International League, in the minors? If so contact me I have a great companion piece for it/your collection.
Or anyone who is interested I will post a pix once I recieve my item in the mail. By chance does anyone out there have any authentic postcards or Type 1 photos, anything of Ruth with the Baltimore Orioles, his very short minor league career. Would love to see them! |

I would say that if any fellow board members own a 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth rookie card, they more than likely won't want to make it public.
These collector's rather stay low key. I would like to see your companion piece you talked about. Tony |

Here is the item I rec'd today.
It is a 1912-1917 Game Used International League Baseball. The significance of this is 2-fold. Well first great story and luck for me. The seller incorrectly listed this as a 1930's National League Baseball. However after researching it is not that, what it is is an authentic deadball era baseball, before the lively 1920 balls came into play. It sold for 400+ but the buyer must not have paid, lucky for me who was the underbidder, however the seller offered to me for my underbid for $400, but I saw that the next closest bidder was 250 so I declined & decided to roll the dice, and he re-listed and I won at the last minute for 150!!!!! Back to the ball, it has the stamping of International League and then on another panel Edward Barrow President. He was President of that Intl. League from 1912-1917, thus dates the ball. The Babe Ruth connection. Babe Ruth played his only minor league season in 1914 for both Baltimore and Providence both in this very same International League. I'm not saying Babe Ruth touched this ball, but who knows. I just think it is very cool a ball from the only minor league he played in, and I've been watching baseballs for awhile and have not seen one come up, although who knows, if anyone has one let me know! |

I know of at least 2-3 board members that have 1914 Ruth cards. Unlike me, they don't talk about their collections much.

I even have to dream of a Type 1 photo or a postcard of Ruth with Baltimore, I researched several auction houses and they go for 3 grand & up, way up. I did see one Ruth w/Balt. photo but from 1930 (so what's that Type 2?) go for 500 at Heritage, so that may be what I may be looking at. |
