I believe you've made a little faux pas.

I see no faux pas here...in my opinion the card is overpriced. uzit is one of the t206 backs i've never owned...and that I need for my backs collection...but I wouldn't pay that $$$...for that card. Just another overpriced BIN...imo!

I didn't click the link. I guess an over priced BIN would not fall into the faux pas category.

I believe, if the "faux pas" you are speaking of (outing an active auction - which is not a big deal IMHO) is lessened by the fact that its a BIN auction only, and not one that will create a bidding war or anything like that. Besides, when it comes to auctions containing T206 rare backs, those who collect them are probably well aware of the auction already.

Ralph:
People pay premium prices for T206 rare backs specifically because the back is rare. If the back has a lot of damage to it, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the premium price in the first place. For some reason, Seymour Uzit seems familiar with me...it's either more common in Uzit than most, or this specific card has been flipped a few times. Me? If I was in the market for an Uzit back, I would rather pay significantly more money for an example that had great clarity whose back was blemish-free. |

did anyone complain when the strasburg was outed? imo that set a bad precedence.
and yea people buy rare backs specifically for the back...if it's majorly damaged then what's the point?

I don't see much wrong with outing this one, or the Strassburg.
The Strasburg isn't something most people here would buy, and pretty expensive. But the 16K buyer will make a nice profit, and had his 15 minutes as well. With this card I see it as the same as if it were in a major auction, which is considered ok. It's listed properly, and anyone that looks for Uzits on Ebay can easily find it. So it's not like it's any sort of secret. (Unlike the R300 I found listed as "old baseball card" ![]() I think the price isn't totally out of line either. One sold on ebay recently for upper 600s that was in worse physical condition, but weird. Nice vg looking lower half, top half was mostly heavy creases and wear that made the card narrower about 1/3 of the way from the top. clear back, but partly obscured by the heavy creasing. If I had the money right now I'd make an offer, maybe 700? Maybe 750 if I was in a spending mood. Steve B Steve B |

Thanks guys, I had the same thoughts, I want a UZIT back but the whole point is the back, I don't mind creasing so much, but when a good part of the back is missing what's the point. I wasn't even thinking of bidding on it, I was just trying to get a ballpark of what to expect when one does turn up...

When I buy a card for it's back I want the back to be nice. There is a T205 Hindu in auction right now that has quite a few creases, and the front is so-so, but the back is fairly nice with no paper loss. Those are better buys for back collectors (shameless plug of course, but no link

I knew this card looked familiar...This seller bought it from our ole buddy Chicago when he was dumping his backs collection. Not sure if this is one of those faux pas' you were talking about, but here is that original ebay sale...120553899427

Not sure who Chicago is, but the card sure looks familiar. I owned it for at least ten years before selling it (through this forum) last winter. And by the way, PSA returned it as trimmed.
