What would be your best guess as to the total number of "known" T206 Uzits currently? This guess should disregard any assumptions of shoeboxes in someone's attic for the past 70 years and only include the number of Uzits that are either for sale, or locked away in advanced collections. My best newbie guess would be somewhere in the 500-750 range. Whats YOUR estimate?

I would say no more than 75-150+ cards are floating around..just my guess.

i think wonka is on the right track...<150. what's the difference between uzits hidden in shoeboxes...and uzits in advanced collections we may not know about?

t206 survey
out of 437,553 cards Broad leaf 460-8 cards-1 in every 54,694 Drum- 29 cards-1 in every 15,088 Uzit- 63 cards 1 in every 6,945 Lenox-112 cards-no designation to brown or black 1 in every 3,907 Broad Leaf 350-160 cards 1 in every 2,735 Carolina Brights-368 cards 1 in every 1,189 the internet has added to this survey significantly, but just wanted to show where the set was in 2001 example-today there are just about 40 Broad Leaf 460 examples known

Jim, although those numbers are almost a decade old, they may still be useful as a chart of relativity. If none of those backs experienced a SERIOUS find, and all of them "grew" in population at a constant rate, we can then extrapolate the following numbers based on your current number of 40 known BL460's:
BL460--40 Drum---160 Uzit----320 Lenox--560 BL350--800 CB-----1,840 Again, this extrapolation ONLY works if all groups grew at relatively the same pace as the BL460s in the past 9 years. Thoughts? |

Hi Jim,
I think that survey was done before the REA find of a few years ago. There was also a smaller Drum find since then. I would guess the total # of Uzit backs in the hobby at somewhere in the 150-250 range. Chicago206 may be pretty close. JimB Last edited by E93; 03-22-2010 at 09:34 AM. |

not so
the recent Drum total was about 130 known fronts not counting doubles and then there were 2 finds that totaled 70 there are well over 200 Drums in population the 205 Drums that were in the finds also might have made the 205 Hindu tougher in that set

that is probably really close for Uzit but there are more than 160 Drums
also take into account, this is what we know -there are so many 206s that we do not know about. The internet has advanced our knowledge but there are many old time collectors from the 60s, 70s, and 80s that never even seen a computer. there were many shows in the 80s and countless dealers and Iam sure alot of those dealers are still sitting on there inventory and have never used a computer. There are dealers at the Philly show now that do not use a computer.

ps....I am going with around 200 Uzits and 200 Drums, on the T206 side, but this is very informal and only a gut feel from being addicted for quite a while.

T206 UZIT cards (and also LENOX cards) were paired-off with the T80 Military Series cards in UZIT cigarette packs in the Spring of 1911. This
occurred at the tail-end of the American Litho's T206 press runs; therefore, very few UZIT BB cards were issued out of Factory # 30 (NYC). To date, there are only 50 confirmed T206 subjects with UZIT backs (out of a possible 103 subjects). There are approx. 135 confirmed T206 subjects with DRUM backs (out of a possible 270 subjects). In my book, T206 UZIT's are definitely tougher than DRUM's. ![]() ![]() ![]() TED Z |

I think you are right on this one-I think Drum and Uzit may have changed rankings with Uzit being a bit more tough.
