I could only find two, Kyle Rote, who appears on many cards, and Bill Dewell, who I believe only appears in the 1950 Bowman set ...

Wow. Those are great. Rhett, What set(s) are those from? (Pardon my ignorance. Just getting into football cards myself.)

1948 Bowman...they are postcards that were put out by SMU (they are postmarked on back 1951 but were likely made before that as Walker had already graduated by 1951). These are the first I have seen but I'm sure there are more out there. They are (obviously) signed on the front by the players, they were likely used to answer autograph requests.
I agree they are among my favorite football cards of the period. -Rhett

Thanks for the quick reply, Rhett.
I used to think '51 Berk Ross Doak Walker was my fave of his. Now, I'm not so sure. At least the Berk Ross is my fave that I own (and are likely to own given the apparent scarcity of those postcards). -Alan |

Nice postcards all around.
Rhett, I was doing a little web surfing yesterday and stumbled across a Heritage Auction for a Doak Walker SMU postcard like yours. Theirs was inscribed to Bert Sugar. Pretty neat. Hopefully one of these will become available again. Would be great to own a Doaker SMU postcard. The Rote one is top notch as well. Love to own either.
