Barry- when you feel this list is complete are you going to collate all the information and create a usable bibliography? It would be nice for people to be able to find out if anything has ever been written on a card or piece of memorabilia they are researching.

Then the next step is for them to have easy access to that article. That part may be tougher.

Old Cardboard has a bibliography of many of these, even not from their publication.

Thanks for the great question,Barry and for the very helpful answer Dave.
Barry, my real interest was to have us see what our Net54 colleagues and buddies have published so that we could get some collaborations going and
know who to turn to for information in whatever areas may be interesting us
or intriguing us at times. Therefore, in a sense, it is as important to know who to turn to as what document to turn to. We're finding as the list grows that we are most fortunate to have many to turn to in a wide variety of areas. I have been pleasantly surprised again and again to see one of our own accomplished in areas that I didn't even know they were associated with. This is the best of surprises.
One thing that I thought might be helpful at the close of these efforts would be to have a closing section which would place all the names of the Net54 scholars together with their publications alongside their names as easy access. My wife tells me that she thinks this probably could be done by cutting and pasting which (as you well know ) went right over my head as I am less computer literate than you are I'm hoping that computer geniuses like Leon, Matt, Brian, etc. might help with this endeavor, as I'm guessing that it can be done quickly compared to how you and I used to do bibliographies at the card catalogue at the library.
I recognize that some of the bibliographies are not complete but having the
name plus the entries as offered would sure be a great step toward finding
our fellow collaborators and helpful materials.

Hope this helps ,Barry.

any other Net54 scholars out there with pubs?

best,
barry

Barry- Leon or Brian might be able to add another link at the top of the page with this information. I find that often I remember that somebody wrote an article about a particular card set, but because it is so many years old I don't remember where I first saw it. Sometimes I'll flip through every issue of VCBC or OC which is of course time consuming.

It wasn't until Dave pointed out the link on OC that I became aware that much of this information can be found in one place. One of course needs to have all these publications to find a particular article and read it.

But anything we can do to gather this all together in one place is a good thing. And I can't cut and paste either- I think you need sharp scissors and a tube of Elmer's glue, but I could be wrong.

"1887 N184 Kimball Champions: 19th Century Athletes & Artwork" - Old Cardboard Issue #13

Probably doesn't count, although there's some baseball stuff in there when it related to beer.

Co-wrote "New England Breweriana" published by Schiffer about 9 years ago.

Many thanks,Greg. I've found, with nearly 40 years in academia, that no reputable stone should go unturned for many have been the home of
some of the most critical contributions in their respective fields.
New numbers:

Net 54 scholars 27; publications 236

Barry S., we're getting close to the end of our task methinks.
Whatcha think?

barry

I think this is a great project that should be archived at the top of the page. I'll speak to the big guy about it.

Hi Barry,

Fascinating topic and a great idea getting all this info together.

Lyman and Brett were gracious enough to allow me to write an article for Old Cardboard a while back -

1903-04 E107 Breisch-Williams: The Historic Set and It’s Sponsor
which made it into issue #4 of Old Cardboard and released on 7/15/2005.

Wow, slightly over four years ago. Seems like ages ago that I collected e107s!

Hi Barry,

Board member Bob Lemke must have an amazing list of contributing articles. Perhaps he will post before this thread is closed.

O/T A story before shutting down.

At a World Series game a man sat down in a box seat behind the first base dugout. Next to him there was an empty seat. The man on the other side of the empty seat says to him: “It’s incredible that anyone would not show up for a World Series game”. Somberly, the other man says: “Well…the seat actually belongs to me. I was supposed to come here with my wife, but she passed away.”

“Oh I’m sorry to hear that. But couldn’t you find a friend or relative to take the seat?" The man shakes his head and says: “No. They’re all at the funeral.”

Brian,
many thanks for the kind words and the support you've given and will be
giving to this project!!!
also, many thanks for the fine article on those expensive E107s!!!
Jerry, great story---reminds me of how we folks are so consumed with our
cards!!!
we're nearing the end of the project but would certainly be open to adding more from our distinguished ranks.
We are now at 28 Net54 scholars(including one via email) and 237 publications.

last call, scholars

best,
barry
