Many of you followed my telephone conversation with Lionel Carter a few weeks back. The purpose of the discussion was to learn about the origins of my Eddie Plank card. Carter told me some of the details over the phone, but informed me that he would write me a letter after he checked his records more closely. Of course, I am eagerly awaiting this letter. |

Paul, I think its great that you are keeping us informed on your contact with Mr. Carter. Be sure to let us know if/when you find out the 411 on his book (when/where it can be purchased from, etc.) |

Forget "Carter and the Cavalry," he needs to write a book about his life-long experiences with collecting cards, the collectors he knew, the stories, etc. "Carter and the Cardboard," I think it would be a better seller! |

For whatever reason I never pictured Lionel Carter as the combat type. The US supply juggernaut had not kicked into high gear by the time of the battles for New Guinea and New Britain, and the US and Japanese armies were on roughly equal terms. I have read that they were hellholes of annihilation. Mr. Carter might have quite a story to tell. Let's hope he will write both books. God bless him. |

I can tell you that as exciting as his stories may be about visiting with Jefferson Burdick and trading cards, they all pale with comparison to his service in WWII. |

It would be extremely interesting if Lionel Carter published his life long experiences in this hobby. But, |
