Personally, I thought the run on Mayos was amazing. Hoping for several lots (even late into each evening), I ended up with only one card - the Ewing (Cin). I thought for sure I would get more. If someone won those and wants to part with a few of the commons (esp. Glasscock-Pit), please contact me.

Hope most N54ers fared better than I did. Still, I'm thankful I got something.

I won the Mayo lot of 14. I was a little surprised with how far I had to go to get them but I have been holding out long enough on a couple of those cards. What a rush it is though (seems odd to get excited about spending money!!!).

Congrats to tbob and the secret kabal on the e98 set which I consigned ..I thought it would do better
On the other hand my e90-3 set did really well
I was able to pick up a couple of lots including the Tattoo Orbit set and the Mayo and Leaf boxing sets.

13K !!!!
I really thought the set would do at least 10K..oh well things even out as I never dreamt that the e90-3 set would sell for over 3 times what I paid for it about a year ago.
I won't really be bidding much on caramels as I have now sold off most of my sets except for my e103's, e94's and e97's so prices should be coming down a bit

Was anyone else surprised that a football set realized the highest price for a card item in the auction? Over $90k for an N302 set... granted it has one of the nicest Dunlap's you'd expect to see, but wow.

and i was the underbidder on the 1913 WS stub...


no biggie, that frees up more money for T206 cards.


Dan- just curious, why you would crack out the B-News card? if it didn't have the writing on it, and maybe were graded a 5, would you still crack it out?

I would crack it out if it were graded a 10. Grading is a complete joke in my eyes and I have no use for it except when selling. Since my News cards are getting buried with me, I am going to race them to the fastest decomposition.

I too was praying for a winning bid on the Weiser Wonder cabinet photo. I only live about 30 miles from Weiser Idaho and have been there many times so it seemed this item was meant to be with me forever. I figured about 5K would take it, but appearantly I was way low. That piece is one of those things that I will remember and possibly regret not buying for years to come.

the weiser cabinet had an expanded view of the image
contained on the weiser wonder postcard although it did not
identify the player it depicted outside of the handwriting
contained on its reverse.

I have not been to the fiddle festival but we will probably check it out this year. Weiser is a cool little town because all of the original old turn of the century brick buildings are still there even though it is a largely rural area. The telephone building that Johnson worked in while he payed baseball is still there and the town still has a really cool old feel to it.

I saw that postcard from Mile High at the Sun Times Show and examined it in person. I will probably go for it but the Weiser postcards are a bit of an anomoly to me. I think the photo in Mastro is from when Johnson played for Weiser because it from a Weiser studio and a period mount, but all the postcards I have seen are from much later, almost like a commemorative issue or something. The one in Mile High is postmarked from 1918 and that is fairly consistant with the others I have seen as far as age.
