That E93 uncut sheet is very interesting. Does anyone know whether uncut caramel sheets come up once in a while?

My question is this I am thinking about collecting N172's and I alway thought that the card was a sepia tone, brownish color. Then I just went to the Goodwin auction and see that there are quite a few N172's that look more black and white. Is there a value difference between the 2 types and also do the same poses come in both variations?

that all old judge cards were at one time black and white. The aging of the cards is what makes them sepia toned the way we see most of them now. But all cards off the printing press were black and white. Other members may be able to give you better information though.

Only if you consider once in a generation as being "once in a while" can you say a candy sheet comes up for sale. This is a partial press sheet but still only the second E-sheet I am aware of. I've seen more Old Judge sheets.

Definitely NOT an item to "wait for the next one" to come along if you want to own one.

Old Judges are thin, sepia toned photographs pasted onto a thick-ish cardboard. Some high grade cards like the ones in the goodwin & co. auction have exceptional contrast, so much so that they may even appear to be b&w, but I assure you that they are and always have been sepia-toned.

that e93 cobb is quite "sharp". I'd have to go home a check but I would think most e93s would have more top/bottom border. That looks more like a t206 border than an e93. Correct me if I'm wrong, Pete/Jim?

I know of a nice complete E93 sheet that resides in a very nice collection outside of Philadelphia. It came out of Adamstown PA in around '89-'91ish. I offered the antique dealer who had it $10K for it, didn't even sniff it for that. A bigger dealer snagged it. Aroud two months after that, I was visiting one of my customers and he had it on his wall. We had a laugh about it!

That border on the PSA 6 E93 Cobb looks about right to me. I will check more closely when I get home, but I compared it with a photo of another E93 I have on my office computer and it looks about right. That is a very sharp example. Should go for quite a bit I would think. What is interesting to me is the color. It is much more red than most examples which are orange. Like a lot of E93 Cobbs (and E93s in general), it is off center-centered r-l.

The other sheet of E-cards that I am aware of is a complete E93 set, more than likely the same sheet Greg mentioned.

It is just me or do some of the "opening bids" seem more like "final bid" type numbers???

Goodwin's opening bids are always pretty high, usually close to what the lots close for.

Is it just me, or do the colors look a little funny? Like Goodwin's scanner is has some color adjustment problem? Take a look at the Cobb cracker jack - the red background looks awful - overexposed. The card can't really look like that. The psa flips do not have the right red color as well on some auctions. Just bad scan jobs . . .

David is such a perfectionist with his posts.First he had 3 dots and i didnt understand what he meant,then he put 4 dots and i thought he lost his mind,then when he put 4 dots with smiley faces between each one i sort of understood where he was coming from but i rationed out supplies just in case and now that hes finally came to his senses and seen things my way when he said ".."

I want to win the PSA 9 John Ward N172 Old Judge card. Does anybody know what a PSA 9 is worth? The SMR only goes up to PSA 8 and the Ward card is listed at 7500 in 8. Here is the link.

Someone here said Goodwin's starting bid prices are usually close to what the final bid price will be. Is that probably going to be the case with this card? Starting bid price is 5500.
