Just got their catalog yesterday and I was very impressed with the nice job that John and Judy did. This auction has a tremendous amount of vintage material and is presented in a very interesting and professional manner. Quite a selection of scarce type cards for Leon and those of his ilk. I get the idea with a really valuable card or item like a Wagner; the big time auction is the best means of maximizing value. But with a 10% commission, a 15% buyer's premium, and a minimum bid that is about 1/2 of retail, why would I want to consign the relatively low-level items that are listed throughout this catalogue? Why not plug 'em on ebay instead?

Still, a nice effort and I'll probably be in on a few items.

don't really 'fool' around with ebay I think and I think a lot wish to continue to remain anonymous. Anonymity allows for them to bid on similar items without people really knowing their bidding habits. I know a couple that won't really bid on ebay either. Guess a lot of people like the 'private' auction format.

Not going to ask any questions about horny elk either. Wierd way to start off the thread.........

Most auctions (there are exceptions) start out with M.B. half of retail. Except for the high ticket items, Lipset's do.
