I just want to commend Wayne Grove, Rich Klein and anyone else involved in the "new look" to this publication - it has a lot of neat stuff related to pre-war baseball, with plenty of representation in the pre-wwI era (which is what I'm most interested in).

I used to pick it up occasionally for the football card and autograph prices, but it is definitely now worth subscribing to.

I picked up the recent issue and was pleasantly surprised. It had been two or three years since I last checked the magazine out--I thought it was a waste of money back then. If the April issue is any indication, they are on the right track to pick up some new subscribers just from this board. There are interesting articles detailing the Maple Crispette set, the Cracker Jack sets, a smaller one on the T222 and Joseph Hall Cabinets, as well as a section dedicated to the Goudey issues and even an article that details how you can tell the difference between real Goudeys and reprints. A couple of contributors from the board have written articles--Pete Calderon and Eric Eichelkraut. I picked mine up at Barnes and Noble, and at $19.99 for one year (12 issues), I think I am going to subscribe. I hope they can sustain this quality in future issues, and imagine could use submissions from knowledgeable collectors.

Hey Brian,
I have been graciously given a few of the Beckett Vintage mags recently as I go to lunch with Wayne and Rich about once a month. Their office is literally about 4 minutes from mine. I also agree that it is a very worthwhile investment. What I really like is the articles of the vintage cards themselves. Not just the players but the cards too. Besides the wonderful, but somewhat eratically distributed VCBC, I don't know of another great vintage card mag. I would think there might even be an article from me in the future. (if I can think of anything to say) regards all

Finally found the magazine in a Safeway magazine rack. $5/mag is a little much, but $20/year sounds like a deal. Don't understand the Leaf Promo insert - seems like a vintage magazine should include a T206 or Goudey instead.

Nice articles from P. Calderon & E. Eichelkraut. Look forward to articles from other board members. Leon, you don't have to say anything - a page or two of pictures would be impressive enough!
