Default Trade with a Dealer which involved a fake card

Hey all, I wanted to get everyone's perspective on a situation I am in: Back at March philly card show I made a trade with a dealer:

He got: T206 Polar Bear Nap Lajoie PSA 1
I got: N172 Roger Connors and T206 Jimmy collins, both ungraded, very poor condition

I went to submit both cards to get cards slabbed by PSA and the N172 came back as questionable authenticity, likely fake, and the T206 couldn't be graded because it was in very poor condition. The N172 Connors was the reason I made the trade.

The same dealer will be at a show I will be at in the future. Should I respectfully bring up the fake card with documentation from PSA? What do you think would be a reasonable ask of the dealer? Or should I cut my losses and move on? I appreciate anyone's perspective, Thanks!

I would bring it up to the dealer and go from there. See what he/she offers, if anything.

Personally, I no longer have any faith in either PSA or SGC to evaluate Old Judges. If you send me a scan I will tell you if there are any obvious red flags.

Default Card trade question

Hi- since your question involved whether to bring it up to the dealer with
documentation, I think the answer is yes, you should. It's your best shot
to make it right. Trent King

I'd be very concerned with any dealer who represented that card as real. Either they don't deal in that type of material enough and should be researching things themselves, or they are actively trying to cheat people. That OJ isn't even close. Best of luck.

Hate to point out the obvious, but in that other thread you were told it was a fake within minutes of posting it. Why did you follow through with the trade?

We need clarification on the timeline

This thread says you made the deal in March via trade.

The other thread says you had the opportunity to buy it in May.

What actually happened?

Agree with the crowd. Old Judges are albumen photos. If you look at one under a loope you will see a continuous surface with an occasional fiber embedded in the image. This appears to be dot matrix which would indicate a copy. Hard to believe that the dealer didn't know this.

Just to put the authenticity question to bed, here is what a legit Connor looks like compared to a non-legit one (mine, on the right, happens to be a Gypsy Queen that has the same photo a fakemongerer utilized to create the OldFakeJudge Connor).
