It's listed in the Trading Card Database, but the cards are not pink but, the pictures are the same. Also, the Casanova card in the TCB has a back in Spanish.

That is actually the 1970 Version of the D.C. DMV Office of Traffic Safety Set.
The pink version was the first version printed. After that, they were printed on a yellow card stock. There are two versions of the 1970 Yellow Set. One with Dave Nelson and one with Aurelio Rodriguez who replaced Dave Nelson after he was traded in 1970. The uncut pink set I have was a grail find for me (Senators Fan here). And I purchased it from a gentleman who is a member on this site. Here is the link https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...highlight=pink And here is the write up in the Vintage Baseball Catalog 6th Edition. Note: I am of the personal opinion that the Dave Nelson card, while a short print is not as short of a short print than the Aurelio Rodriguez card is. My reasoning for this is Dave was in the first and second printings and Aurelio came later. I believe the Aurelio Yellow version is a more scarce version as a result of the later printings. I am interested in the individual cards just so you know. Congrats!! Butch

Thank you Butch for the information. If you'd like to make an offer on the set, I will consider. Sincerely. Jim

In addition to the cards, this approx. 14" x 20" poster of Frank Howard was also produced. It hangs on the wall of my man cave.

I can tell you that based on whom is in the set.
https://www.beckett.com/baseball/197...s-police-pink/ https://www.psacard.com/auctionprice...oe-foy/2523122 Both McLain and Foy only played for the Senators in 1971 thus they can't be 1970 cards.McLain was 3-5 for the Tigers that year with the gambling suspension and Foy was coming from the Mets, So, the Pink has to be from 1971 unless they were psychic as to whom Robert Short was bringing to the Senators the next season.

Here are the two 70 sets and the one 71 set. (There are actually 3 70 sets, Rodriguez replaced Nelson.)
Foy and McClain are certainly in the 71 set. You can also differentiate the 70 and 71 sets from the lines in the 70 sets between players and the lack of lines between players in the 71 set. If you compare the Casanova in the first post you can see that it matches up with the 70 set(s) posted here. If there is a pink 71 set, that would be an excellent find or, a reprint IMHO. Just adding additional information. Regards, Butch Turner

The very least pre 1990 or so. As the leading dealer at the time in Police/Safety cards ensured that Dr. Beckett got all those sets so they could be properly catalogued. The trade was he got comp ads in the annual guides.
He passed quite a few years ago so I can't ask him about any of this but I'm very comfortable. I'm not there to update the blurbs in Beckett but here are the cards which have been sold from 1971 on COMC. And in case anyone has a question, there is no confidentiality issues as I did this search from the web site https://www.comc.com/Cards,ss,=1971+...ase~5d,ot,i100 Note it does appear the Nelson in Pink was actually a 1970 card. I can fix that based on the sheets. If you see anything else to be changed I can still change those after the fact so to speak.

If there are 71 Pink examples, I have never seen them and would love to.
Numerous items I have read, even in the Tom Holster Checklist Book only refers to a pink 70 Traffic Safety Set. I will post that in a separate thread shortly. Timelines and card colors are not lining up.... Nelson's first Senators game in 70 was 6 April. He was sent to 'AAA' on the 8th of June and returned the 10th of September. Rodriguez's first Senators game in 70 was 27 April after the trade from Los Angeles. So apparently Nelson was first on the Pink set and the Yellow set and then Rodriguez was added to the second printing of the yellow set and replaced Nelson in that group. I believe that the Rodriguez card is more scarce than the Nelson Pink and Yellow versions. Although that is not how Tom has it documented. I guess it all depends on when they all were printed during the year. Regards, Butch Turner
