That is cool and something I did not know about and I have owned way more 89 Fleer error cards than most. The coolest thing I have heard come from the factory sets are the white scribble version of the Bill Ripken error.

Interesting, if this is true i am kinda surprised none have ever surfaced over the past 35+ years. Past month or 2 I have been obsessed with 89 Fleer looking for errors/variations. I have a box with a very early date code waiting for me to open on Xmas. Seller claims it came from a case with date code 83432.

Anyone know the date codes that the Jeff Treadway target card was in?

He is on the same sheet as Bill Ripken so looking for a full sheet with the Treadway target card will narrow it down a little. I no longer have any Ripken sheets. The only one I have left has the Brookens/Heath wrongback pair, the Hernandez with the full pink moose head print spot, and the Young without the S/squiggle. Sadly I never kept notes on what errors appeared together on different sheets I owned.

I have the variations listed below except for the checklists. I have only one of them, 658. And while I have several of the Ripken and Johnson variants I am no where near the accumulation of Ben and others. By the way, if you have scans not on this list consider contacting Mike Cady with scans http://baseballcardvariationsguidebo...wordpress.com/ ).

In addition to the list below I have variants to these cards

201 Belliard---red line along S in Pirates on his uniform
232 Fielder---anamoly in E in his name at top
235 Henke--large black slash in A in Blue jays on front of jersey
255 John--blue mark on neck
413 Swindell--lips all white

Anyone have others ?

The Treadway Target was actually a late run 'error'. You won't find any in the early dated cases.

I have some mentioned on your list, I was surprised to find I had both variations of the Kevin Romine card #98.
Ill have to check but i think i have about 4 different versions of the Guillermo Hernandez card. 1 bright "horse head", a dull version but still very visible, one where it is hardly visible at all unless you really look closely and the corrected.
Another one is the Wade Boggs with the mark on the back. I have about 25 and all had the black spot. I ended up finding one on ebay for a BIN of $1.25 a while back.

Hi Al, I sent an email to mike with scans on the 92 topps Quintana with the registration mark a couple of weeks ago but I never heard back from him.

I just resent the scans. It's my fault that he didn't get them the first time. I missed a number in his email the first time.

That is pretty late for the Johnson corrections. It won't be a full black-out correction but very likely a box version by December 9th. Any very rare version of the card will come in pre-December 1st boxes. I used to keep track of what versions were coming out case codes broken during the pandemic and I believe the best stuff was still heavily tinted sign versions.

Thanks for the info, I look very forward to busting it. I remember opening tons of these as a kid but never was lucky enough to pull the Ripken. I did pull a Johnson RC with the "Marlboro" lightly seen in the background.

Phone pics are usually way too big to upload without reducing the size of the file. You can also take the pic from a ways away from the item and then crop the pic down to what you want to post.

I purchased 2 cello boxes of 89 Fleer errors. I opened one and got many, to include the FF card. I have kept the second cello box. Problem with it is that there is no way to validate the box except for my word.

As for the overall set, I had all the errors but not with the many variations of Johnson and Ripken, just a few of the easy ones. However, they got sold before my move and someone got a really great deal on that edition.

So, anyone want to weigh in on my cello box. Open it, keep it closed, or sell it to someone here?

Open it or sell/trade it to someone who will. I am biased because I love ripping junk era wax.

Nice haul. That looks to be the hardest version of the green scribbles. Back before Covid and they(green scribbles) came out of the woodwork that one took me a couple years to find around 10 years ago.

There are 3 different green scribble cards. I just bought/received the same red version you posted because the pic looked like it might have been something else/rare.

Post a pic in this thread to show them off. They are among the very few 89 Fleer variations I have never owned. Honestly never really looked for them but know they are silly rare.

That says "Boslo". I have never seen a checklist with the correct spelling "Bosio". I don't think that error was ever corrected.

I picked this one up off COMC for that same $1.25 a few days ago. I hate on COMC my fair share so I will say this for them, I absolutely love they will hold cards so you can buy several over a long time and have them all sent at once to INSANELY reduce shipping.

This is a perfect example of hoarding for no reason. This was an insanely rare card until a few years ago. Now $1.25 might be overpaying but I still can't stop buying them when super cheap.
