T206 Player / Card / Back Combinations - EXCEL

I have a really good Excel spreadsheet of Giants in the T206 set with all of the various backs in rows and player / cards in columns that show which combinations exist (or are known anyway). The thing is Ive had it forever and I definitely did not create it. I'd bet any money that a) I got it here and b) it included all of the player / cards in the T206 set.

Anyone either know what Im talking about or have a similar spreadsheet that has all of the set (or the HOF at a minimum) they're willing to share??

Probably the "superset spreadsheet"

Very similar, but without updates, it was an attempt at population numbers outside of the grading companies. Maybe also a try at seeing if we collectively had anywhere near a full set with all the backs.

I use a version I removed all the numbers from as a checklist.

On August 6th 2017, a select group of 7 of us, with Pete Gustafson leading the project plus Ted Zanidakis, David Hall, Scot Reader, Adam Goldenberg, Art Martineau, and Ron Kornacki (other collectors may have been added after the inital 7 of us) were building a complete front/back list of every card known to exist. The card had to be in the hands of one of us. At the time, the plan in motion was to complete the list the best as possible, and then it was going to be submitted by David Hall to PSA, so they could update their checklists and Registry requirements. Somehow that plan didn't follow through, and I was personally told by PSA that they had it all under control, and all the suggestions that were mentioned were already in motion. It's been over 6 years and many updates are still not done. PSA did however make a full master Registry, but included many cards that they shouldn't have, plus cards that don't even exist. They totally messed it up, as if they don't have one T206 expert between them. I've lost hope on the submitted errors being corrected, and certain new subsets being added to their Registry. I tried to keep my personal list up to date as a new combination was found, but I missed probably 20 to 30 cards over the years just by distractions. Patrick Romolo probably has the best most up to date checklist to this day.

Here is a copy of the original e-mail from Pete Gustafson on 08/06/2017. There were a few earlier e-mails, but they were just about the idea. This e-mail was the first to have the earliest checklist attached. Master Team Set Checklists could be made by using T206Resource for the Team Checklist, then copy those groups of names from this checklist to a new spreadsheet.




Gentleman,

Attached you will find PSA's "proposed" T206 Master checklist. We took some liberties in taking off some cards we do not feel exist (and which I know many of you have agreed with in the past) as well as added a few cards we know exist through our own acquisitions. At the same time, some of the cards which have been removed from prior "confirmed" checklists you may disagree with. We are hoping that you do and we're hoping that the dialogue will lead to further proof that certain combinations do, or do not, exist. For any "formerly confirmed" specimen to be added back to this Master checklist, a front/back scan from an respected/trusted source is requested.

Once the attached spreadsheet is reviewed by those on this email chain and any absolute/obvious changes made, the checklist will be put on PSA's registry website for public use and download. Once published, there will be a formal process put in place where "new" cards to the checklist will be added by an authorized PSA representative. While nothing is "official", the thought is that for any "new" card to be added to the "PSA T206 checklist", it will have to be sent to PSA for review/verification. While this will certainly not always be possible, the plan will likely be for an incentive/bounty to be put in place for any new card(s) (free review/authentication of the specimen plus additional free grades or something like that). Exceptions to formal PSA review will be cards that are found on Ebay or other auctions that are publicly for sale which can be easily identified to be real/authentic by a nominated person(s) of expertise.

We certainly could have made some mistakes on this initial list and we ask you, the experts, to take a look and let us know where we may have done so or where we may differ in opinion. We are going to keep the initial checklist "review" open until August 31st (three weeks+). That should give anyone ample time to review and make comments.

Some specifics and some assumptions of note:

1) Only cards that were formally issued through ATC's production and distribution process were included (no hand/sheet cut, Brown Old Mill, etc.)

2) Ty Cobb Red Portrait - "Ty Cobb" back - was included. This is still up for debate (and likely always will be).

3) Drum backs of Chase Blue and Mathewson dark, which to anyone's formal knowledge have not been officially seen, were included in the checklist. This was based on the fact that these (2) examples are part of the group of (6) super-prints. Where (1) SP's is found, the others were absolutely printed. That is fact and that fact is undisputed. As we can confirm (4) of the (6), we can confirm Chase/Mathewson were in fact printed and are in fact possible front/back combinations.

4) Cy Young - Glove Shows - Lenox: You will notice that both Brown & Black versions are included and highlighted. Mr. Gustafson firmly believes that there exist certain/specific Lenox cards that will only be found in Brown and every example that arises, will in fact be Brown. We are fairly confident that both Cobb Bat Off and Lajoie w/ Bat fall under this scenario. Mr. Gustafson feels that Young Glove will also end up falling in line with this scenario as will other front/back combo's as more data is gathered. While PSA shows/reports and example of a "black' Lenox Young GS, we firmly believe that under a 2nd/3rd review, this card will in fact be deemed a brown Lenox (David Hall currently posses this card). Additionally, while a Lajoie w/ bat was recently graded/slabbed as a PSA 4 "black" Lenox, Gustafson and several other regarded T206 experts reviewed the card in person and confirmed the card was absolutely "brown". PSA will make arrangements to have this card brought in, reviewed, and the necessary correction made.

5) PSA's goal is "information" and we want that data to be as accurate as possible. PSA would rather remove a card which is in doubt, and have that card be officially confirmed at a later date, rather than include a card and have collectors seeking/chasing a card which may in fact not exist. The end game is to have as accurate of a checklist as possible so the collecting population can enjoy it and use it as a launch-pad to build their T206 collections.

6) We know this will be a hot topic of debate and not everyone will agree on everything, ever. At the end of the day, this is a journey and the "PSA T206 Master Checklist" is a dynamic list that will need to be maintained and updated regularly. Let's all keep in mind that nothing is set in stone and everything is open for debate.

7) This checklist was generated by a combination of several factors and persons (David Hall's own set, Scot Reader's book, Ted Zanidakis's published checklists, knowledge sharing of everyone on this email, data/information found on T206Resource.com and other public websites, data found on both PSA and SGC's official population reports, etc.).

8) Pete Gustafson will maintain the attached checklist up until the point where PSA officially publishes it on their Registry website. At that time, only PSA authorized personnel will be able to make changes to the their checklist.
