"Vintage" meaning antique "style" Jerseys or Game-worn?

Big difference in terms of who you should use.

I would say Heritage and Leland’s. You may also try Goldin.

I’m assuming these are flannels or early knit jerseys.

If the jerseys were mine, I'd consign them to LOTG.

All excellent choices above...

Hunt Auctions also realizes excellent prices, but can be tough to negotiate with on the commission end. Grey Flannel is the only AH who actually specializes in Game-used Uniforms and Equipment. You might want to consider them along with those previously mentioned.

Best of luck!

I've seen generally strong prices at Grey Flannel, and Hunt and Heritage have become major players in GU shirts also. Those would be my top 3.

Lelands, IMO, has really slipped. We had a discussion earlier this year on a White Sox shirt they were offering as original, complete that had several major things wrong with it, including stripped off NOB.

Just for fun, you might post them here. You never know, you might get your price on some of them and save yourself the big seller commission.

They realize good prices, but will likely insist that you pay for Mears Authentication as a condition of selling. Worth a call, though.

I had a very similar experience with Lelands.... bought a Clay Carrol Reds Jersey purported to be all-original, only to find the Name On Back was an obvious replacement. Took less than 2 seconds to determine... Disappointment off the charts.

And I agree about posting here.... No harm in doing so! It won't reach as many eyeballs, but it's easy, you can dictate the price, you get paid much faster, and it's completely commission free. No reason not to give it a try first.

My $.02

If you know what you want out of them (or at least a ballpark) post here and see what comes in. No commission, costs or much time investment.

For auction houses here are some thoughts (don't assume that if I left them off they are bad. I wasn't going through every one of them.)
  • Heritage - Handles many of the biggest items in the hobby. Recently sold some major jerseys and has some crazy items upcoming
  • Goldin - Became much bigger during COVID. More focused on modern and card than vintage GU
  • Hunt - I don't really understand them because they have so few images but often get strong prices
  • LOTG - Smaller house. Often have a lot of vintage memorabilia (not necessary GU stuff) and Al has always been great to work with and even just talk to. With a smaller house, it may get more attention.
  • Grey Flannel - Focused specifically on GU. Have not compared prices

I would reach out to these and any others you are considering. Get an idea of what commission structure, how it will be featured (full-page in catalog etc), auction estimates (although take this with a grain of salt), when it will be listed etc. From there you can negotiate on the details and make a decision.

There's also always eBay which does not take much time. With Powersellers you can get fees pretty low especially on more high-end items.
